Conditioning and Nutrition top Day 3 discussions of OSEP S&C coach seminar

Friday, September 30, 2022 – Maite, Guam

Strength and Conditioning Coaches went through a series of conditioning exercises at the Custom Fitness Gym led by OSEP RME Lemeki Savua and Guam RCC Educators Ryan Claros, Paul Claros, and Lenora Makela.  The session ran for 90 minutes. During the session, the groups presented on prep to speed, speed warm up, acceleration and deceleration, agility, and volleyball specific conditioning.

After dinner, coaches worked with Savua on calculating testing loads, rate of perceived exertion, and daily training environment.  Nutritionist Lenora Makela presented Module 6, Periodization and Planning.  She talked about nourishment mindset, principles incorporating balance, variety, moderation, and adequacy; and third-party certification that confirms a product does not contain ingredients banned by WADA.

Coaches worked on a nutritional periodization plan with the general, specific, pre-competition and tapering, competition and travelling, and transition phases through group activities. Thereafter, Savua provided a preview of day 4 to close the session.
