Maite, Guam — The Guam National Olympic Committee(GNOC) 3rd floor conference room buzzed with energy and purpose as leaders fromGuam’s National Federations and Commissions came together for Day 1 of the OSEPMaster Educator Course — a dynamic three-day experience designed to elevatesport education and leadership across the island.
The room was filled with Guam’s top sport minds —passionate, experienced, and ready to grow. This powerhouse group dove into the heart of GNOC’s organizational structure, guided by OSEP Mentor Talemo Waqa and Regional Master Educators Melanie Torre and Joey Miranda III, whose combined expertise set the stage for a transformative learning journey.
Miranda welcomed participants on behalf of GNOC, offering a heartfelt introduction to the Oceania Sport Education Program (OSEP) and a strategic overview of the NOC’s mission. Through Mentor Waqa’s facilitation, attendees shared their hopes and goals, setting a collaborative tone for the days ahead.
Waqa led an engaging dive into Module One, blending interactive delivery methods that sparked reflection and creativity. Participants explored the roles, responsibilities, and attributes of effective facilitators through group work, paired discussions, and individual presentations — all designed to unlock diverse learning styles and empower confident delivery.
Torre, Miranda, and Waqa brought the facilitation process to life through role play, modeling the techniques and energy needed to lead impactful sessions. Participants were then tasked with preparing their own presentations for Day Two — a hands-on challenge that emphasized adaptability, clarity, and engagement.
This course isn’t just about personal growth — it’s a launch pad for upcoming GNOC activities. Our members will help deliver presentations for the Interscholastic Sport Association High School Athletes Awareness Program, and play key roles in upcoming Coaching, Strength and Conditioning, and Team Management courses. The ripple effect of this training will be felt across Guam’s sport community, empowering athletes, coaches, and leaders alike.
The day wrapped up with a lively Q&A session and a thoughtful overview of expectations for Day Two. The atmosphere was one of unity, curiosity, and commitment — a true celebration of sport education and the power of shared purpose.
