The 6th World Baseball Softball Confederation Congress was held at the Grand Fourwings Convention Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand from October 16 to 18, 2025. Bob Steffy, President of Guam's Amateur Softball Association and President of Guam Major League Baseball, Inc., was the No. 9 recipient of the Order of the Golden Diamond at the Congress.
The International Softball Federation and the International Baseball Federation merged to form the World Baseball Softball Confederation at the congress meeting in Hammamet, Tunisia, in April 2013.
Bob Steffy was elected the first president of the World Baseball Softball Confederation Oceania in March 2023 for a three-year term, succeeding the two co-presidents of WBSC Oceania - Rex Capil of New Zealand for softball and Laurent Cassier of New Caledonia for baseball.
He previously served as the first president of the Oceania Softball Confederation from 2005 to 2016. On December 7, 2013, Bob was elected to a three-year term as president of Baseball Confederation Oceania at a Congress held in Guam.
In 2009, at the Venezuela congress, Bob was elected one of two Oceania regional vice presidents for the International Softball Federation and inducted into the International Softball Federation Hall of Fame in the administrators category.
His years of distringuised service in national and international sports organizations have highlighted Guam's ability to compete. Guam Baseball now ranks 32nd in the world. Guam will compete twice more in 2025, improving its world ranking.
With much more to do here at home, Bob has decided to step down from the larger sports bodies and focus on his roles as the Guam National Olympic Committee's Secretary General and Treasurer, as well as on its regional mission.
